A Weekend with the Allred Cousins

The Allred cousins came through on their way to San Diego and dropped off Chewy, their dog, for us to dog-sit for the week.  Chewy became their pet when Grandpa and Grandma left on their mission.  He is a pretty relaxed dog and we had no trouble at all watching him.  Carlee and Jake especially loved taking him on walks around the block and Kate and Carlee loved to add accessories to his wardrobe.  Chewy loved to snuggle up on the folded laundry on the couch or slide in right next to me when we were watching TV.  He never barked or whined and was happy just hanging out at our house for the week.  Clark was a bit disappointed to miss out on the dog responsibilities since he was at Scout Camp the whole time.
When the cousins came back, they spent Friday night and Saturday with us.  We hit U-Swirl right when they got into town on Friday night and stayed up late watching the Olympics and hearing about their trip.  Saturday morning, we waited for Clark to get home from scout camp, clean up, and then headed downtown to visit Pawn Stars, Caesar's Palace, the Bellagio conservatory and fountains, and took them to lunch at the kids' newest favorite restaurant, Max Brenner.  Then we came back for swimming and watching more Olympics at home.  We had a wonderful weekend with them and love it when they come visit.
After checking out the infamous pawn shop, we were starving and headed over to Max Brenner.
The servers here are AMAZING with helping the kids enjoy their chocolate
(and they didn't even mind that our kids stood up to eat the fondue)!
Checking out the seasonal changes at the Bellagio Conservatory is one of my favorite things to do.

Kate and Jayne are actually the same age (few months apart) but not the same in height ;)

Swimming Lessons

Last year, Carlee wouldn't even jump into the pool to us if we caught her.  This year, she is jumping and diving and "swimming" all over.  She has lost her fear but I have gained it.  She is at the point where she feels confident in herself but isn't really a strong swimmer with any technique but refuses to wear any floating devices so obviously it's time for swimming lessons again.  She was in a much more advanced class with older kids and really turned a corner.  I definitely have to keep my eye on her but she can hold her own in the pool.  Way to go, sweetheart!
Taking her 10 breaths to warm up
Miss Janette taught them how to survive in an accident by blowing up their clothes and using them as a floatation device until they were rescued.  Jake's khaki pants were the perfect device!

We love Ms. Janette and can't wait to see her next summer!

Random Summer Pics

The kids love to get a hold of my cameras and take pictures of themselves when I don't notice.  Here are some fun and random pictures of our summer activities . . .
Carlee's facial.  We must have been out of cucmbers.  At least she can see through the orange?
Jake's Belly Man.  He loves to sing and dance!
This girl is obsessed with Instagram and making cupcakes.
This one loves to pose and beat his siblings at board games.
However, these two are taking a break to play on the phones?
This one loves to dish up ice cream cones for everybody and is quite the little waitress.
We have had some pretty good rainstorms this summer so the kids love to swim in the rain.
Looks like we are loving the summer!
