Halloween is finally here and we are all pretty excited. The kids got to wear their costumes to school, a first for their elementary school and I pretty much spent the day at the school along with them. That morning we had a follow-up meeting about the Fall Festival. When that was just about done, I ran home to grab the treats and games for all the class parties, drove to Port of Subs to grab lunch for my kiddos, and made it into Carlee's class to help pass out treats at the end of their day.
Mrs. Cifelli led them in the Monster Mash as they were heading out the door.
As Carlee gets out of school, Jake's class comes in from recess to eat lunch. We grabbed him from the cafeteria to join us in the courtyard for our sub sandwiches. We ate lunch and talked about his day and then he headed back to class while Carlee and I waited about 20 minutes and talked with her teacher before Katelyn and her friends joined us for lunch. When we finished eating, I had about 45 minutes before I was to help in Jacob's class and Joe called right then and was almost home. He picked Carlee and I up at the school and we ran to Costco and the post office. Then he and Carlee ran some more errands while I went back to the school to help with the parties.
Jacob's class ate yummy treats, watched "Halloweentown" and shared scary stories in the dark with a flashlight. I just got to participate because Mrs. Brock didn't need much help. I just enjoyed sitting there with my boy.
This kid is a completely different person at school. He is so quiet and reserved. He just does his work and studies hard. He sat there smiling with me next to him during the party. He kept offering me his snacks and just didn't say much but was happy and proud that I was there.

When Jake's party got over at 2:10 for him to go to Specials, it was the perfect time for me to head over to Mrs. Montgomery's classroom. Mrs. Montgomery asked me to be in charge of planning the class parties this year so I got to come up with the ideas and activities for it. Thank you, Pinterest! She didn't want food and drinks but did allow the kids to bring in small treats so we put together Batty Take-out Boxes to carry them home. We also made unique skeletons with our names written in cursive, played "Witch Pitch", and ate donuts from a string.

At the end of the school day, I gathered up my happy children and all my supplies and we headed home. We barely had time to do homework, practice the piano, eat our Halloween chili dinner, and get our costumes touched up before it was time to go trick-or-treating. Joe and I got dressed in our costumes as well since we didn't have a family picture from the ward trunk or treat. We are the CLUE characters this year. Clark headed off with his friends, Joe took Katelyn, Jake, and Carlee out into the neighborhood, and I handed out candy this year. It was so nice for me to get the house cleaned up, and relax a bit while they were gone. I even read a book between the doorbell rings. It has been a crazy fun-filled week!

When the kids all got back they dumped their bags as usual and started trading the candy that they didn't like for ones they did or made a "Mom and Dad Pile" for the least favorites. But this year, they continued the organization and divided them according to kind, counting how many they had of each and trading with each other to make their piles even. I just laughed. They are definitely my children! And they definitely got enough candy!
Jake was done being Mr. Green and went back to being a Ninja for trick-or-treating
