Earning His Wolf

The theme for September's Pack Meeting was Cooperation and Teamwork so the activity included keeping balloons in the air while being linked with a partner.  Jake and McKay won the activity in that their balloon didn't pop and it never hit the ground.  Great job, boys!
Brother Lovett discussed the importance of teamwork and cooperation in his job as a firefighter.  He explained that his team needs to work and communicate together at all times to protect and save others and themselves during a fire.  Brother Honeycutt, our cubmaster, put on the firefighters uniform while Brother Lovett explained in detail how it worked.  While he was taking it off, one foot got stuck in the boot and for about 10 minutes (literally) kids and adults were "working together" to get his foot out.  I don't think that was his plan but ironically it got the point across that night and I don't think anyone will forget it!  Finally they got the boot off and everyone was laughing so hard.
A lot of people took turns using their strength to pull off that boot but without any luck.
Not sure what is more funny--trying to get the boot off or John holding Dave . . .
The Cub Scouts got a great idea of holding onto Bro. Lovett's waist and pulling with all of their strength together.  If they weren't giggling so badly, it might have worked!
Brother Lovett saved the day!  Phew!

Then the kids counted and timed Brother Lovett to see if he could get completely dressed in his uniform in 60 seconds as is their requirement before running to the fire truck.  He did it in 1:06!
Jacob earned his Wolf badge, a gold arrow point, and 2 silver arrow points at the September pack meeting.  He was thrilled and is well on his way to earning some more arrow points before his 9th birthday.  Joe was out of town so Brother Acol helped Jake pin me upside down.
Great job, Jake.  Keep it going!
